Three days after returning from a week long cruise, I am still struggling to get back into the swing of emails, laundry & cooking! I can’t even begin to tell you how wonderful our trip was, every minute of it. In fact, my husband & I have already discussed our next one (not for many years lol, but still). I was originally going to post pics of trip highlights today, but I’ve decided to share something that stood out to me on Royal Caribbean the most – something that is far more valuable than any of my memories & experiences.
Since 2000, Royal Caribbean has partnered with the Make-A-Wish Foundation to grant cruises to children with life threatening illnesses through their Wishes At Sea program. Throughout the month of June, each ship holds a fundraiser called Destination Joy to help raise money. The ship I was on held charity auctions & other events with an incentive to shave the Cruise Director’s head if the goal was reached. It was so cool to see everyone get really into it to help a child have their dream-come-true through this amazing organization & partnership. In fact, there was a child & her family on-board with us that week using a granted wish!
The sun in the first photo (taken by my brother) & the next photo (taken by me) reminded me of the star on the Make-A-Wish logo :)
Here is a video of the fundraising incentive from another Royal ship:
